My Oma and Opa

Well as you can see from the title I am going to talk about my fathers parents. They were born and raised in Holland and immigrated to the USA about 50 something years ago with at that time three of their children. I wish I knew what I did with all my pictures of Oma..... but Aunt Terrie has some on her blog. When I read my Aunt's blog I remembered so many things about my Oma and my Opa, like how at my wedding we took a really great picture of them dancing at my wedding reception. My heart is so full right now of the blessings I have been given. Ashley doesn't remember my Oma much, but loves music, I like to think that my dad, mom and Oma have something to do with that. Omas was always laughing, smiling dancing or just humming. I will never forget 7 years ago this month when 9-11 happened, the Sunday after it happened I was at my parents and Oma was over and she just looked sad. I asked what was wrong and she just said "How could this happen to America", " the land of the free?" I don't recall what if anyone answered but I do know that we soon we on a different subject and had her laughing and smiling soon after. On the 19th Sept 2001 Oma left this world to go to a better place and see her wonderful husband my Opa. To my Opa and Oma I love you and know that you protected my Kylie and were talking and singing to her before I could. I think of my Oma a lot especially since having Kylie, because you see after the doctor pulled Kylie out and gave her to my mom to hold, so the doctors could stitch me back up,(C-section) Kylie started almost humming to herself. My Oma did that all the time and as a matter of fact, if we were all having a conversation and the conversation died, after about a minute you would hear a "Heh, Heh," for some reason after my Oma did this the conversation started right back up. Every once in a while someone at my parents will do it and I just start to laugh.

Today I had the opportunity to go on a field trip to the Museum of Fine Arts with Ashley school class. The museum has a display on hand showing pictures from Van Gogh, Monet and may other artists, some of the paintings we saw we done by Dutch artists. I was so excited about this. Ashley was too and as soon as she saw the description she would say "Hey mom, this is from Holland too" I loved it. Well I guess I have blubbered enough for one day!

Mandy, thank you so much for the kind words. It's so important to share even these little things because it's the little things that make the person. I have a picture of Oma and Opa dancing at your wedding so if you need it, I will send it to you. One day, the next time you come to my house, I will show you the beautiful tribute of Opa and Oma dancing, Jenny made me. Love you always!
